Update October 2008: Following discussions with a group of local traders and a well established market operator, we have submitted revised ground floor plans to Haringey Council. This includes accommodation suitable for the re-provision of the Seven Sisters market on the junction of Seven Sisters Road and Tottenham High Road.
The scheme submitted to the Council consists of:
- Enlarging and significantly improved public realm on Tottenham High Road
- Improved entrances to Seven Sisters Tube Station
- A variety of new shops and restaurants on West Green Road, Tottenham High Road and Seven Sisters Road aimed at High Street names and independent businesses
- 197 new homes around a private garden on the first floor
Following our extensive period of public consultation we have made a number of revisions to the plans submitted to Haringey Council, these include:
- Redesigning the High Road frontage including using new materials and making a feature of the building replacing the Wards Department Store on the corner of the High Road and Seven Sisters Road
- Enlarging and redesigning the new public square on the High Road
- Redesigning the upper parts of the buildings on Seven Sisters Road
- Changing the art installation on the High Road
- Accommodation suitable for the re-provision of the Seven Sisters Market
- Redesigning the retail accommodation with the aim of attracting a lively mix of local and independent traders to smaller units on West Green Road and Seven Sisters Road as well as providing a range national retailers to the High Road frontage principally providing convenience uses such as a small supermarket, pharmacy, bookstore / newsagent, coffee shop, bank etc
A new public square, nearly double the size of the one shown in July 2007, is a central feature of the new Wards Corner.
